Your pet will be cozy in our spacious suites.
Your pet’s rate of $60 per night for their boarding stay will include a customized daily play schedule tailored to the exercise needs, energy level and personality of each pet. Every boarding pet will enjoy five to eight outdoor play/snuggle sessions and a complimentary cuddle time before bed. The pets take turns in groups and as individuals using the outdoor areas. Weather has an impact on the length of time each outdoor session lasts.

The approximate schedule for the overnight boarding guests is as follows:
First morning let out is at 7 AM. Pet suites are cleaned, water dishes refreshed, and bedding fluffed and freshened up at this time.
Breakfast and morning medications are given at 8 AM
Outdoor play sessions take place from 9-11:45 AM. Pets take turns playing outside in groups and as individuals with staff interaction and supervision.
Midday rest for dogs that eat lunch is from 12-2 pm. Pets that do not receive lunch or midday medications may enjoy additional activity at this time.
Any lunches and midday medications are given at 1 PM.
Afternoon outside time is taking place from 2-4:30. Depending on the weather, we may host water play with pools and sprinklers.
Evening meals are distributed in the range of time from 5-6 pm.
The entire building and play area is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by the staff every evening.
Evening outside time (individual/family pets access the exercise area with a staff member before bedtime) takes place between 7-9 pm
After the last walk before bedtime, a staff member will do a turn down service for each pet in their suite for a complimentary cuddle time to say, “Goodnight.”
Additional individual walks are provided to puppies and any other dogs that need an extra outdoor bathroom opportunity.
*Note: Brachycephalic dogs, such as English/French BullDogs and Pugs, and senior pets with special needs have special schedules that differ from the one listed above to provide additional caution.

Check In and Arrival Process
You’ll have the chance to update our team with any changes to your pet’s feeding and medicating instructions. We aim for your pet’s arrival to go smoothly and quickly on your travel departure day. Our office team will assist as you complete the paperwork necessary to provide us with your pet’s feeding instructions, medication schedule, and any other important details.
Please, bring your pet in on a nylon leash (not a retractable flexi-leash, please) for their boarding stay. You can bring any training tools, electric collars, prong collars, or treats you’d typically use to help your pet’s behavior at home.
Behavior and Safety
All overnight boarding guests must attend an evaluation daycare visit (Interview Day) and pass their evaluation in order to schedule a boarding stay. Pets that do not pass their evaluation may be re-evaluated at a future date with a note from the pet’s veterinarian or dog trainer, depending on the situation.

What to Pack
Overnight boarding requires a bit of preparation and packing.
Food and Medicine:
Plan to keep your pet’s diet and medication schedule as consistent as possible. Avoid providing unfamiliar foods or treats during your pet’s boarding stay. We want to administer food and medication the same way your pet is used to getting it at home. That tends to be easier for their tummies.
We have a refrigerator and freezer in our kennel attendant work area just for the pets, so if you feed your pet food that needs to be refrigerated and/or thawed during their stay, we can do that! We can also refrigerate any medications that must be refrigerated.
We need dry food meals to be pre-packaged individually, one meal per package.
You can use ziploc baggies or small reusable containers of your choice. This ensures there will be enough food for your pet’s entire stay and helps our kennel work area be extremely organized.
You do not need to pre-mix wet food or toppers. Please leave wet ingredients/meals in the original containers.
There is an in-house food option that may be convenient for pets that do not have any dietary allergies. We can provide our in-house food option upon request for an additional fee of $5 per day.
Any medications your pet needs to take during their boarding stay should be brought in the original containers.
We need to know the name of the medication, the dosage and why the medication is being administered. You’ll need to let us know if your instructions differ from the instructions on the medication container and why. We do not charge extra fees for medication administration, but we do take the administration of necessary medication very seriously. If we have any issues administering your pet’s medication, we will notify you immediately and discuss options.

Bedding/Comfort Items/Toys:
We can fully-furnish your pet’s suite with bedding, toys and bowls, free of charge. You can opt-in or opt-out of additional bedding for your pet. We also have durable, safe toys that your pet can play with, as well as stuffies they can snuggle if you say it’s OK.
You can bring a blanket and a couple toys from home. You can bring chews and small comfort items.
Please, don’t bring any big, oversized beds that can’t be easily washed in a standard size washing machine. If it has a removable cover we can toss in the wash, that’s great to bring! If your pet’s bed is really expensive and hard to clean, let’s use our in-house bedding instead.

Keep in mind that, similar to sending a kid to camp, you’re going to want to label everything you send with your pet’s name. And similar to sending a kid to camp, try not to pack too much, and avoid packing anything that is valuable, sentimental or irreplaceable, because we cannot guarantee it will be returned in good condition or at all. If something gets left behind, we’ll hang on to it for you to come pick it up within the week (or we can mail it to you if you prefer). Past one week, we will need to discard any unwanted left-behind items.
Please, do not bring any food bowls from home unless your pet eats from a special food bowl, such as a slow feeder or raised feeder. We have lots of bowls that we can use, so we don’t want yours from home to get misplaced or broken.
Appalachian Tail Pet Resort provides all lodging guests with everything needed for a luxurious and relaxing stay. You are welcome to bring a t-shirt that smells like you, extra blanket, etc. with your pet, as well as other small belongings that might make their stay more comfortable. Please refrain from bringing anything that is large, valuable, sentimental or irreplaceable.

Pick up and Drop off Times
You may pick up and drop off any time within our office hours, as we are happy to accommodate your travel plans. Like any hotel, there are Early Check-in and Late Check-out fees for morning check-ins and afternoon check-outs.
The fee is to cover the extra half day of continued care:
- $20 covers the Early Check-in for any morning drop offs before 10 am.
- $20 covers the Late Check-out for any pick ups after 3 pm.
To avoid these fees, aim to drop your pet off for their visit after 10 am and pick up before 3 pm on their last day. If your travel plans do not allow you to make it after 10 am on the first day or before 3 pm on the last day, just let us know and we can talk through the options and add the Early Check-in and Late Check-out to your reservation.
